Course Objectives

Fellowship in Embryology

The course provides a one-on-one training to develop knowledge and skills in all aspects of IVF and ICSI, including performing specific proceduresto ensure the highest possible success rates.The aim is to give participants both the latest knowledge and the opportunity to have a complete learning experience with renowned biologists and embryologists.

Hands on Training Include

  • Sperm preparation for IUI and ART
  • Dish preparation for IVF and ICSI
  • Dishes, Tubes & Consumables (ET Catheters, Ovum Pickup Needles, etc.)
  • Routine Semen analysis, advanced semen analysis
  • Semen washing technique
  • Semen freezing and thawing
  • Media preparation for IVF
  • Follicular fluid screening
  • Oocyte identification and retrieval
  • Oocyte grading and handling
  • Oocyte fertilization check and assessment
  • Embryo culture in vitro
  • Embryo grading day 2 to day 6
  • Embryo selection, loading and transfer & embryo replacement
  • Embryo cleavage, blastocysts, and culture medium
  • Freezing of Sperm & Embryo
  • Thawing of Sperm & Embryo
  • Cryopreservation
  • Reports preparations
  • Quality control, quality assurance and proficiency testing in IVF laboratory
  • Trouble shooting in an IVF laboratory

Methodology of Training

  • Introduction to lab procedures, equipment and apparatus, consumables, handling of pipettes and pumps
  • Embryo cleavage, blastocysts, and culture medium
  • Embryo selection, embryo replacement and embryo transfer
  • Sperm preparation, assessment, cryopreservation, preparation for IVF and ICSI stimulation protocols
  • Oocyte retrieval, grading of oocytes and insemination
  • Quality control and maintenance, record-keeping
  • ICSI: Alignment of injection needles and immobilizationof sperm other
    micromanipulation techniques
  • Troubleshooting

Evaluation of Trainee

Knowledge : Multiple-choice questions on lab techniques linked to each course module.

Practical skills : Tested on specific lab techniques taught during the training.
